Intacct provides powerful functionality to get and save information through Ajax web API. I wondered if I could do something in a mobile environment to access this same information. PhoneGap makes web App mobile development easy, and PhoneGap does not require any knowledge of dense programming language, it is based upon the latest technologies like HTML5, CSS3 and javascript. The biggest advantage of the PhoneGap development tool is that it supports all major platforms like iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry, etc. And it also supports various application programming interfaces like Geo location (google map), media, network, notification, camera, storage, etc. Now let’s develop a simple mobile App.

A. Configuring the development environment

I use an Android phone. So I need to download Android SDK first. We also need Eclipse.

1. After you download them, extract them to your local hard disk and remember the location.

2. Start Eclipse. Now we need configure the ADT (Android Development Tools) Plugin for Eclipse. You can install the plugin through the Eclipse Install New Software Wizard (I use Mac OS, so the Eclipse menu maybe different).

You can reference the ADT Plugin install guide.

3. After you installed the ADT Plugin and selected existing SDKs, you can download and install PhoneGap . (I use version 2.9.0).

You can click this link to download.

Extract the file after you download it. Also, you need to remember its location for later use.

In my next blog post, I will show you how to use this environment to create a simple mobile app.
